The world is colour less – long live the pigments. Pigments are the structure of matter, which enables light rays to meet with the receptors of our eyes in a certain way so that a wonderful coloured world evolves. Before the overwhelming flow of colourful impressions everywhere there were great hardships to gain pigments from plants [indigo], earth [ocher], stones [lapis lazuli – ultramarine] or animals [purple-snail]. For a long time just the mighty decorate themselves with colors and changes in society always came along with a change of the coloured dresses. Nowadays the artificial production of all paints is possible. There are only a few vendors of natural pigments.
